FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Calvin Pryor and Jace Amaro were the New York Jets’ first two picks in the NFL draft, and both plan on playing key roles for their new team immediately.
Pryor, a hard-hitting safety from Louisville, was the No. 18 overall selection last week. He says Friday on the first day of rookie minicamp that he’s just focused on earning the veterans’ respect by learning Rex Ryan’s defensive system. Pryor is likely to start in the secondary once the regular season starts.
Amaro, a pass-catching tight end from Texas Tech, was a second-round pick. He says he’s motivated to prove that he should have been the first tight end drafted, and his goal is to someday catch 100 passes a season consistently.
